Trail running can be a great, stress-relieving experience because of the silence and peacefulness of nature. However, 3 things I need to have for trail running are good shoes, bug repellant, and body wash for poison ivy.
Good shoes for outdoor running are very important. Running outdoor can be a great experience except that there are a lot of hidden bumps and items on the ground that leaves people vulnerable to foot injuries. Shoes for outdoor running can help absorb some of the shocks associated with rocks and bumps to help not only your feet but your ankles as well. Good shoes should also be waterproof because running outdoors possibly means puddles or other moisture that can increase the risk of blisters or athlete’s foot.
When running outdoors your natural body odors and sweat are very attractive to pests like mosquitos, so getting a good bug repellant can save you from endless itching and discomfort later on. It might also be advisable to wear long pants and long sleeve tops to avoid ticks or other parasites that may cling onto your skin. Also, make sure to have someone check your hair and skin to make sure you didn’t pick up any ticks along the way.
Poison oak and poison ivy can be very difficult to spot, especially when running quickly through an area. It may be impossible to spot one vine that has crept out through other bushes and the slightest brush against your skin can leave you with a rash or more severe reaction. It would be a good idea to invest in a body wash made to alleviate the reaction to poison oak or ivy and make sure to take a shower immediately after a run.
Running outdoors can be much more scenic and enjoyable, not only because it gives a good exercise but also helps relax you, but it is important to make sure you have the essentials to make your run easier.
